Greetings to you all
I was in a taxi the other day and I couldn't help but listen as two passengers were talking badly about each other's ethnic groups. Both passengers were passing silly remarks at each other to the amusement of the other passengers. As I sat in the taxi, i asked myself so many questions like, where do such comments come from? Why do our people behave like this ? Why do we hate each other so much as black people? I was then reminded of how the apartheid government separated black people. Were black people were separated by means of their ethnic groups. A piece of land was given to the Zulu people , BaPedi's , Xhosas and so forth, with the sole aim of dividing us, weakening us and making us enemies. I then thought of something that irritates me so much, every time I see a car, t-shirt or Facebook status written "100% Pedi/ Zulu/ Xhosa" and so forth I get irritated . I get irritated because I'm reminded of what the apartheid government stood for, I'm reminded that we'd rather refer to ourselves as being "proudly Zulu/Pedi" and so forth without ever referring to ourselves as being "100% African" or being"proudly African ". Now take time and imagine, imagine if there wasn't this Tribalist thinking and that we were all united black people and proudly African, how far would we be? How united would we be ? This ethnic dividing strategy by the apartheid government has totally killed us, it has made us enemies, it has given black on black violence a chance to conquer our lives once again. We all remember the black on black violence during the 90s between the ANC and the IFP, when we killed each other the apartheid government looked at us from far and laughed at us as we became enemies and weaker. My fellow brothers and sisters, it's time to remove this tribalist thinking we have rooted in us. It's time to stand together as black people and owe our loyalty to being proudly African and nothing else, because nothing beats being PROUDLY AFRICAN !
SALUTE !!
